2 What do you do when your teacher says to double-space the paper? 1.You hit Enter twice at the end of each line? 2.You don’t worry about it because she won’t notice? 3.You follow these instructions?

3 3. You follow these instructions! Find the Format button at the top of the page.Format Pull down the menu and find Paragraph. Click on it. Find the Line Spacing box in the middle and pull down the menu to Double. Highlight Double and hit OK.

4 Where do you go when your teacher says to use Times New Roman 12 point font? What are manuscript acceptable fonts? What are manuscript acceptable sizes?

6 INDENT? You want me to indent? Find the Tab key on the left hand side, third row down. The default setting on the Tab key is correct for manuscript style. Click on it at the beginning of each new paragraph.Tab key

7 What are all these other little things for?

8 There are 4 buttons in the center right of the 3 rd line that have 6 straight lines; use the one on the left that is even on the left. Place a header on the right – Choose the 3 rd button and type. Justify your paper on the left - Choose the 1 st button of the group. Center your title – Choose the 2 nd button of the group. Blank Doc1.doc

9 Setting Margins Most Word programs have the margins defaulted to 1” on all sides. However, the student Word program here at school has defaults at 1.25 inches. To change the margins, pull down the File menu and find Page Setup…Page Setup

11 To Save, or Not To Save… You really want to save early in your work. Pull down the File menu and go to Save As… and click.File menu Make sure you’re in My Documents and give it a name.

12 Finish saving Name your document in the File name window. Find the Save button in the lower left hand corner. Click it.

13 Wasn’t that fun and easy! Mrs. Crow will love your paper if you follow these rules.
