An aim, purpose, aspiration, ambition or destination that gives meaning and direction to our lives. Improvement Goals: Things we want to change to make better; lose weight or quit smoking Achievement Goals: Things we want to accomplish; top salesman, best snowboarder Financial Goals: Things we want to acquire; a car, a home

They provide us with a tool by which we can measure our success, behaviour, attitudes etc.

1. Short Term Goals Aims for the “here and now” Steps towards your long term goal. I.E. To get an ‘A’ on my Planning Project

2. Long Term Goals Aims for the future I.E. Grades To get into University

Criteria: Goals should be S.M.A.R.T S pecific M easurable A chievable R ealistic T ruthful / Timely

X Bad example: “I want to write a book.” Good example: “I want to write a book on time management that is at least 200 pages in length and have it done by December 16th. I’ll commit myself to writing at least 2 pages every workday until I reach completion.”

Visit a minimum of 3-5 websites Make note of the steps to “goal setting” and criteria for setting good goals Choose a set of steps that you connect with Create a Goal Setting Cycle Include a link to the websites you researched

Now that you have created a cycle, set a goal for yourself Once you have established what your goal is, use the steps from your cycle to achieve the goal You need to have at least one point for each step; these points need to be linked to your steps!

To Become the Best Teacher EVER! 1. Specific: to become the best teacher I can be 2. Simple: The best teacher I can be one year at a time 3. Significant: Being the best teacher will help students learn 4. Strategic: I will plan each lesson before delivering it 5. Measurable: Each student will pass my course 6. Rational: Being the best teacher will equate to students coming to all my classes 7. Values: If I provide a safe and fun classroom, then students will succeed.
