Characters vs. Nonprinting Characters Characters All items visible on screen that can be printed Examples: Letters, numbers, graphics Nonprinting Characters All items that can be seen on a screen, but NOT printed Examples: Hard returns, blank spaces, & tabs How To: Click on the Show/Hide button

Nonprinting Characters Arrow = Tab Dot = Space Paragraph Symbol = Hard Return

Delete & Replace Characters Backspace Key Deletes characters to the LEFT of the insertion point Delete Key Deletes characters to the RIGHT of the insertion point

Use Undo, Redo, and Repeat Undo Reverses the last command Undo Button (QAT) Keyboard Shortcut: CTRL + Z Redo/Repeat Reverses the action of the undo button Repeats last action Redo Button (QAT) Keyboard Shortcut: CTRL + Y
