Digital Footprint By Nicole Matonis
2
How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?
3
Your digital footprint can affect future opportunities in a variety of ways. For example if you post, comment, share… Thing’s that you know your parents, teachers, future employer’s wouldn’t think so greatly of don’t post them. Because even though you can delete thing’s they never truly go away. Your digital footprint follow’s you forever. Which also mean’s that a company you might want to apply to work for in the future might do some research on you, and if they see thing’s they don’t like they wont hire you.
4
Your digital footprint can affect your safety as well. If you’re not paying much attention to what you choose to share online, or the people you communicate with problem’s can be created. Not just creepy people asking to meet up or people copying your text, posts, photo’s and saving them into their devices, but future opportunities. If the person you are working for see’s that you’re very open about your information, they might not like it because it can put their companies at risk! So now not only have you lost your job, but you’ve got a situation with your safety.
5
Some strategies you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe are…
6
Remember that nothing is private online Think before you click ( is it safe, appropriate, will it cause a bad reputation for me, will I regret it later on...?) Stay as private and personal as you can. So only add people you know as friend’s or only let people you know follow you and try your best to not give out too much personal information! Never give out your location. Be smart about what you do. Because everything is recorded even if you delete it. Just pretend that EVERYONE is viewing everything you do on the internet.
7
What information I learned that I’d like to pass on to other students!!
8
I learned that it’s not very important how many likes you get on a photo or post, or how many question’s you get asked, or how many reblogs you get or views… Those type’s of thing’s wont be important when your older. It’ll be WHAT you post that’s important or what you SHARE. Because when your boss looks you up he/she wont care how many comments you got on your latest post, but they will care on what type of person you are. If you are a negative person, or a partyer or a caring hard working employer who is trustworthy and loyal. So as important it may be right now on how many like’s you get that wont matter in the future.

Digital Footprints are not just digital footprints. They are like portfolio’s of your whole life, they will never be lost, or deleted. Everything is recorded and kept. So how you choose to leave a footprint on this planet digitally is your choice, but just remember that once you post it share it send it you can never get it back, it’s out there forever!
