2 Kenny Chesney Biography Kenny Chesney is a country music superstar from Luttrell, Tennessee whom entered the country music scene in 1993 and has been consistently topping the charts ever since. Kenny’s unique approach to the country music scene is displayed not only in his vocals but also his song-writing abilities. Kenny’s down to earth, Caribbean influenced music sets your mind into relaxation mode the moment you hear it. Kenneth Arnold Chesney was born in Knoxville Tennessee and is the sole son of David Chesney and Karen Chandler. Kenny also has a younger sister named Jennifer Chandler. His father, an elementary school teacher and mother, a hairstylist were active in Kenny’s childhood and provided endless amounts of support to Kenny’s extra-curricular activities including high school football and baseball.

3 Kenny received a guitar for Christmas one year and taught himself how to play. After high school, Kenny was off to East Tennessee State University, and became active in Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and also joined the Bluegrass Program. Kenny graduated with an advertising degree in 1990. Like most aspiring country music stars do, Kenny then headed to Nashville, Tennessee with dreams of pursuing country music. Once in Nashville, Kenny began playing in a country bar located in the rough part of town called the Turf. Kenny was told by a producer “You’ve definitely got something, but it ain’t there yet.” Kenny continued to play at the Turf until 1992 when he landed an audition with Opryland Music Group and came out with a songwriting contract. After a successful year in songwriting Kenny then signed with Capricorn Records where he released his first album In My Wildest Dreams and sold approximately 10,000 copies. By the year 2000, Kenny had released his first Greatest Hits album, including tracks from his first 5 records such as “Fall in Love”, “The Tin Man”, and “Back Where I Come From”. The greatest hits album also featured a few new songs still popularly played on the radio today. (“I Lost It” and “Don’t Happen Twice”). Kenny’s second greatest hits album, Super Hits was released in 2007 and featured songs from the 4 albums released from 2000-2007. Since 2007, Kenny has released another 5 records including yet another greatest hits album, Greatest Hits II. Kenny has recorded a total of 15 albums, with 14 of them reaching a Gold or higher by the RIAA. Kenny has also had over 30 singles reach the Top Ten on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs.

4 Kenny Chesney is no stranger to collecting awards; over the span of his musical career he has received international awards from the Academy of Country Music (ACM), Country Music Association (CMA), American Music Awards (AMA), Country Music Television (CMT), Billboard Music Awards (BMA), People’s Choice Awards (PCA), and the French Country Music Awards (FCMA). Kenny is regularly selling out the arena’s in which he performs. When Kenny isn’t on tour, he spends his leisure time at his vacation homes in the Virgin Islands, and Caribbean or on his 60’ Sea Ray yacht. Kenny also spent some time co-directing a film for ESPN titled “The Boys of Fall” a documentary on high school football, influenced by his 2010 lead-single titled “The Boys of Fall.” Kenny then produced and narrated another film for ESPN’s “Year of the Quarterback” The Color Orange, a biographical film on Condredge Holloway; Kenny’s favorite football player growing up. Kenny Chesney was briefly married to Renee Zelleweger in 2005. Their marriage was annulled about 4 months later and Kenny has not re-married. Kenny also dedicates his free time to the V Foundation. The V foundation is a cancer research foundation founded by Jim Valvano, former coach of the North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball Team. 5 History of work Young- This was a lead single from Kenny’s 7 th album, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. Young was released on December 31 st 2001, and quickly topped the charts making it all the way to the number 2 position on the US Country Songs Billboard chart. Young was written by Craig Wiseman, Naoise Sheridan, and Steve McEwan and produced by Buddy Cannon and Norro Wilson. Young is about a mature man reflecting back on his teenage years about having a wild time with friends, girls, and alcohol. Kenny also sings about wishing he was older, and now that he’s older he wished he was younger.

6 How Forever Feels- Released as the first single from the Everywhere We Go album, Kenny’s 5 th album. How Forever Feels reached the number one position on the Billboard hot 100 list after its December 7 1998 release. Another country artist had originally recorded this track, but decided not to release the record which allowed Kenny to record and release the song. How Forever Feels was written by Wendell Mobley and Tony Mullins and produced by Buddy Cannon and Norro Wilson. In the song, Kenny sings about living the wild life, having experienced all the fun things in life and wanting to experience a life long love with his partner. I Go Back- Kenny wrote this song which was released May 3, 2004 as the third single off of Kenny’s 6 th album, When the Sun Goes Down. Kenny reflects on the sweet moments of being young and in love, quality time with friends, and playing sports. I Go Back made it to the number 2 spot on the Billboard Country chart. Buddy Cannon along with Kenny produced I Go Back.
