4 Time Period Civil War Lincoln is credited for helping the North win the Civil War.

5 Time Period Mexican War Lincoln was a member of Congress during the Mexican war. He took the side that James K. Polk instigated the start of the war.

6 Location Abraham Lincoln is associated with the United States. He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, the son of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, farmers.

7 Background Information Abraham Lincoln lived from February 12, 1809 to April 15, 1865. He married Mary Todd Lincoln. They had two children. One of their children died at a young age. He was the sixteenth president of the United States.

8 Accomplishments Abraham Lincoln is best known for being the 16 th president of the United States. However, he began his career as a lawyer. Later he earned a seat in congress and served one term.

9 Importance Abraham Lincoln is one of the most well known presidents in United States history. He is credited with helping the North win the Civil war and the abolishment of slavery in the United States.

10 Explanation I chose to research this person to find out why he was so well known. As I read about him I learned that he had many great achievements that shaped our world today. I was also interested in where he came from and how he became president.
