Method of Superposition: Based on the principle of superposition Stress distribution due to each loading is determined. Stress distributions of all loadings are superimposed Resultant stress distribution is determined Limits: Linear relationship exist between stress and the loads. Small (insignificant) changes to geometry of member because of the loads.
