The Heart By Elise Gingold

Where is the Heart Located?  The heart is about in the middle of the chest, a little to the left. Inside, the ribs make a cage around your heart to keep it safe.

How the Heart Works  The heart is a very strong muscle, it never stops working. The only time it stops for a rest is in between beats. The heart never stops beating unless you are dead. The heart is different from other muscles. When you are running, you don’t just keep on running, you slow down because your muscles are tired. When you are up and moving, your heart beats faster. Unlike when you are asleep, your heart beats slow down.

Why is the Heart Important? Your heart’s job is to send out all the blood and oxygen throughout the body to all your cells. Cells need oxygen to work, and cells, make up your whole entire body. So without oxygen, you’d die. Asthma, is a type of sickness you can get where you have a hard time breathing. But that’s another story to tell.

What is the Size of the Heart and What Does it Look Like?  Your heart is approximately the size of your fist. Your heart is a dark kind of red. The hearts shape looks kind of like a bumpy, round blob. The texture might feel squishy. Although, I’ve never touched one before.

A Diagram of the Heart
