Other kitchen equipment may also be included in the sale, such as a refrigerator, a dishwasher and cupboards for storage. Sometimes a washing machine and dryer are also provided.

They make an initial payment (or down payment) of about 10%-15% of the total amount, while the rest of the money plus an interest will be paid back monthly to the bank over a long period of time, sometimes as long as 30 years. The same policy is applied to the purchase of any expensive things, such as a car, a TV set, a piece of furniture and so on.

A flat (or an apartment in American English) usually has a set of rooms on one floor of a building which includes a living room and one or more bedrooms besides a kitchen and a bathroom. A flat or an apartment is more expensive if it does not face a busy street, as it is quieter and usually offers a better view. Culture Notes:

11 Part C Oral Practice Task 2(Pair work): Questions and answers on the texts Listen to conversation 1 & 2 again and answer the following questions in complete sentences. Then link up the answers to make a short summary of the conversation.
