The teacher/ program wants to check if the learning goals have been accomplished by a child See Fig. 6.3, p. 167 Types of assessment: i.Observing listening to children; what are they saying, what are they doing? How does it fit into the domains of development? ii.Checklists iii.Tests (standardized)

3 Ch 7: Routines What do you like about having a routine? No perfect blueprint- guide, not dogma Routines provide a balance of: - Quiet & active - Indoors & outdoors - Group & individual Allow time for self-direction Reserve time for long-term projects Plenty of time to play Provide fixed points in the day for stability & security. Examples?

4 Ch 7 Each table will be assigned a section of the book and you will report out important points of a routine. Hint: Tell us what the book says & how you would put it into practice - Avoid conflict around routines / reasonable routines (Table 1) - Schedules being flexible / predictable (Table 2) -Time for play (Table 3) -Transition Times (Table 4) - Arrivals & departures (Table 5) -Diapering & toileting (Table 6) -Naptime (Table 7)
