2 Senior Design Craig A. Greiner Introduction The Problem: A knee brace that can fit a wide variety of patients, monitor joint angle and produce some means of feedback to the patient or physician. The Solution: Following surgery or injury, no means of continually monitoring the degree of joint flexion or extension is available. This often produces miscommunication between the patient and the physician or therapist and may lead to re-injury.

3 Senior Design Craig A. Greiner Marketing Device will be initially marketed for purchase by hospitals, rehabilitation clinics and physical therapy centers. Patients may purchase device directly from the company for Continual monitoring following rehabilitation. Minimal direction needed for proper application –Placement and alignment –Battery replacement

4 Senior Design Craig A. Greiner Features Angle measurement from approximately 15 o hyperextension to 135 o flexion 24 hour continual use battery lifespan Universal size to fit both left and right legs, from size Small to XL soft brace Visual feedback through a digital output Accuracy to the degree

5 Senior Design Craig A. Greiner Project Status SolidWorks model successfully produced. Algorithm and code for angle detection created. 3D knee model acquired. Rapid prototype production completed. Electrical components have been received. Tasks Completed: Circuitry assembled and implemented in prototype. Device integration with soft knee brace. Battery pack production. Testing of angle measurement accuracy and reliability. Future Developments: Fully functional prototype completed by end of March
