Goals of Treatment n Improve drainage of mucus and reduce swelling n Relieve pain and pressure n Clear up any infection n Prevent formation of scar tissue

Prevention n Treat nasal congestion promptly n Avoid contact with people who have colds n Avoid smoke n Avoid allergy triggers n Avoid dry air

Home Treatment n Extra fluids n Moist heat n Saltwater nasal washes n Nonprescription medications –pain relievers –decongestants –mucolytics
