2. Function: it is to control air pollution on a national level. It required the environmental protection agency to develop and enforce regulations to protect the general public from exposure to airborne contaminants that are hazardous to human health. It is significant because it was the first major environmental law in the united states to include a provision for citizen suits. It affected air quality and emissions limitations, ozone protection, prevention of significant deterioration of air quality, plan requirements for nonattainment areas, emissions standards for moving sources, motor vehicle emission and fuel standards, aircraft emission standards, clean fuel vehicles, general provisions, noise pollution, permits, and stratospheric ozone protection.

3. Agency/group responsible for regulation and enforcment Although is it federal law, the states do much of the work to carry out the act. The EPA has allowed the individual states to elect responsibility for compliance with and regulation for the CAA within their own borders in exchange for funding. But in some cases, states have chose to not accept responsibility for enforcement of the act and fore the EPA to assume those duties.
