2. BACKGROUND  We are all aware about the 2015 Nepal earthquake which swiped away life and properties of thousands of peoples, causing them to stay temporarily in sheltered areas.  People have been lacking their basic needs which is causing them to adjust with whatever they have for now. They have been facing different obstacles trying to adjust with the situation, mainly with the basic survival kits.  Women are having to face the problem of their menstrual cycle and pressure to keep themselves clean every month, which can become more of the issue for them while trying to cope with the disaster and basic needs itself.

3. RATIONALE  This project is planned to be initiated among the ladies present in the temporary shelter areas of the eastern part of Kathmandu, Chucchepati Area.  We would be buying and distributing A sanitary kit, along with the dustbin for women staying there.  Initiating this event will include the two important points.  Firstly, We would be distributing the sanitary pad to each women and dustbin per family, at least for 3 months, as they have been lacking with their basic needs due to loss of their property. Secondly, staying in a crowd and following improper sanitation habit is definitely a health hazard. The problem is not only for a single family but for many of them residing there, and we would have a reason to visit them and keep our eyes on them every month and focus on how much are they paying attention for keeping themselves clean during the post disaster time, where they have been staying combined.

4. OBJECTIVES  Distribution of the kit for the convenience for women during her menstrual cycle, especially during her stay at the crowded sheltered area.  To promote safer women’s health and proper hygiene for them and their surroundings in the sheltered area.  To find out how aware those women are towards their health and proper sanitation, and their experiences until now regarding this, as lessons for future disaster responses.

5. 6. OUR POSSIBLE PARTNERS FOR EVENT  NGO Hamro Chahana Nepal which basically is working for the women and children in Dolakha VDC may act as the possible partners for this initiation, as well as the possible fund provider.  We do have Nepal Tamang Samaj Institute and Youth’s UNESCO Club as our partner for this event to provide the necessary funds.  Based on our research, we will be open to collaborate with NGOs or INGOs
