Natural Time Periods Lunar Month: The 4 phases of the lunar month match the four weeks of the calendar month. Results in a 12 month year because 365 divided by 29 and 1/2 ≈ 12 Solar Day: The time it takes for Earth to make one full rotation relative to the sun. Sidereal Day: The time it takes for Earth to make one full rotation relative to a point in space Constellations. Sidereal Day is 4 minutes shorter than Solar Day. Lunar Month: The 4 phases of the lunar month match the four weeks of the calendar month.
