Waves Waves are the means by which energy is transferred from one point to another There are two types of waves: transverse and longitudinal Ex. Rope Ex. Slinky

Medium- what the wave travels through Ex. Water, spring, string, air Longitudinal waves- sound waves, seismic waves or pressure waves Transverse waves- electromagnetic waves

Waves Reflection: bounce off a surface Refraction: bend through an object Diffraction: waves wrapping around an edge Wave Movement

Waves Resonance: vibrations caused by waves Polarization: filters block out certain wavelengths and allow only certain waves through Wave Movement

Standing Waves Between two barriers- node on each end. At the nodes, the wave changes direction.
