Pressure and Moving Fluids Fluids move from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure example drinking from a straw Bernoulli's principle states that the faster the fluid moves the less pressure the fluid exerts. The speed of moving fluid increases, the pressure exerted by the fluid decreases. Example blowing air over the paper.

Applying Bernoulli’s Principle Bernoulli's Principle helps explain how planes fly. It also helps explain how an atomizer works, why smoke rises up the chimney, and how a flying disk glides through the air. Objects in flight, the curved shape and the design of the airplane wings produces the lift and that is how the airplane takes off and the thrust is the engine the force that moves it forward.

Atomizers; the difference in pressure between the top and bottom of the tube draws the perfume upward. Chimney; the difference in air pressure between the top and bottom of the chimney helps keep air moving upward. Flying Disk; Like an airplane wing, a flying disk uses a curved upper surface to create lift.
