What is a comic? A comic is similar to a story A comic uses pictures AND writing to tell a story There are characters, settings and PLOT PLOT is what the story is about Comics use FRAMES to tell the story The story is usually told in ORDER Each part of the story is told with a different FRAME

Dialogue What is DIALOGUE? Dialogue means characters talking. Comics usually use bubbles called SPEECH BUBBLES SPEECH BUBBLES are usually ROUND Characters can talk in any frame Sometimes there is no talking

Narration What is NARRATION? NARRATION is how the story is told Sometimes comics have NARRATION BARS NARRATION BARS explain what is happening in the story without the characters talking NARRATION BARS are not always in comics

How do I start making my comic? Step 1: what is your comic about? You need to think about the story you want to tell This is the PLOT

How do I start making my comic? Step 2: Who are your characters going to be? You need to think about who will be in your comic Each person is a character

How do I start making my comic? Step 3: How many frames do I need to tell my story? Think about how long your story going to be If you have a long story, you might need more frames

How do I start making my comic? Step 4: Make a rough draft Making a rough draft is important It will help you decide if you need more frames or less frames It will help you decide if you have enough dialogue or too much It will help you decide if you like how you drew each frame of your comic

How do I start making my comic? Step 5: Make your final version of your comic and give it a title Use your ideas and corrections from your rough draft to make the final version of your copy
