Summer 2012  Shrewsbury, NJ  Provides process simulators for simulation based training INSTO TM training approach: ○ Identification, Normal Operations, Startup/Shutdown, Troubleshooting, Optimization Simulator consists of two components: ○ Digital Control System (DCS) Screen ○ 3D Virtual Refinery Goal: allow operators to practice startup and shutdown procedures, emergency response, and acquire a better understanding of the process dynamics “The plant is no place for practice.”

3. Simulation Solutions, Inc. Summer 2012  How you obtain this internship? Job Vault & on-campus interview Recommendation from previous intern  What did you do? Put together exercise booklets for plant operator training ○ DCS and Outside Operator Identification exercises ○ Startup and shutdown procedures and scrambles ○ “What If”, Cause & Effect, and troubleshooting exercises Developed new P&IDs and updated old ones Provided customer assistance with simulators Capstone project: design three new simulator modules for seawater desalination

5. McNeil Consumer Healthcare- Summer 2012  Fort Washington, PA  Over-the-counter medicine manufacturer  McNeil Consumer Healthcare is a Johnson & company Manufactures over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, Motrin and Zyrtec. The Fort Washington location previously manufactured OTC liquid and solid medications. Entered consent decree to the FDA in 2011 and has since redesigned/rebuilt portions of the Fort Washington facility.

6. McNeil Consumer Healthcare  How did you obtain this internship? Using connections to get in contact with engineering manager.  What did you do? Worked on commissioning and qualification for the restart of the Fort Washington liquids manufacturing facility while McNeil Consumer Healthcare was under consent decree to the FDA. Tasks included: ○ P&ID walkdowns ○ Performed calculations for cleaning validation ○ Built turnover packages and assisted in site acceptance testing.

7. McNeil Consumer Healthcare  What information from class did you utilize? P&ID’s and general process/unit operation knowledge from EDII Process Control Unit Operations.  What was your favorite part? Seeing a manufacturing facility progress from construction to early the earlier stages on site acceptance testing.  What was your least favorite part? At times dull documentation necessary due FDA regulation/McNeil’s consent decree.

8. Air Products and Chemicals Inc. Summer ’11 & ’12  World Headquarters: Trexlertown, PA  Gas and chemical production for industrial uses  Large provider of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and chemical intermediates.  Key growth markets: semiconductor materials, refinery hydrogen, natural gas liquefaction

Worked in GO Gen Gases Tech Team Created a graphical system to monitor plants Vibration SPC trends  What was your favorite part? The people ○ Networking Responsibility Informational Interviews  What was your least favorite part? Long hours in front of a computer

Plant Process Engineering Group at Hometown, PA Headed a project that will save the company $400,000 a year ○ Top fill a transfill process Led a cooling system clean-out project Worked on various smaller projects ○ Walk down P&ID ○ Pump Specs ○ Heat Duty Calculation for CF4 ○ Incident Investigation in WF6
