Why God

3 Fundamental Questions 1) Where did I come from? 2) Why am I here? 3) Where am I going?

Where did I come from?  “a wonderful mystery”  Two options 1) Evolved 2) Created

Where did I come from?  Defining Evolution  “The Universe is self-contained, which means that everything in the Universe has come in to being through random processes without any kind of supernatural involvement.”  “Evolution includes the evidence for a gradual appearance of present life over eons of time, with complex kinds of life emerging from “simpler” kinds, and ultimately from nonliving matter”

Where did I come from? Charles Darwin – The Origin of the Species  “Why, if species have descended from other species by insensibly fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms.”  “If numerous species, belonging to the same genera or families, have really started into life all at once, the fact would be fatal to the theory to descent with slow modification though natural selection.”

Where did I come from? Spontaneous Generation  Something from nothing  “[T]he universe is probably the result of a random quantum fluctuation in a spaceless, timeless void … the earth and humanity are not conscious creations but an accident” Professor Victor Stenger, University of Hawaii

Where did I come from? Defining Creation  “The Universe is not self-contained. Everything in the Universe has come into being through the design, purpose, and deliberate acts of a supernatural Creator Who, using processes that are not continuing today, created the Universe, the Earth, and all life on the Earth (including all basic types of plants and animals, as well as humans).  “Creation includes the evidence for a sudden appearance of complex life”

Where did I come from? Created by God  Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.  Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Where did I come from? Five Components 1) Time 2) Force 3) Energy 4) Space 5) Matter

Where did I come from? Five Components  In the beginning (time)  God (force)  Created (energy)  The heaven (space)  And the earth (matter)

Where did I come from?  Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.  John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Where did I come from?  Colossians 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Where did I come from?  Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Why am I here? To Love God  Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Why am I here?  Acts 17:26-28 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Why am I here? We Love God By Obeying Him  John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.  John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Why am I here?  Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.  Deuteronomy 6:2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

Where am I going? We Have A Soul  II Samuel 12:22-23 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

Where am I going?  John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  Mark 8:36-37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Where am I going? Two Options  Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.  Matthew 25:31-46

Where am I going?  Luke 16:22-23 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Where am I going? Choose Life  Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.  Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…

 Believe (John 3:16)  Repent (Luke 13:3)  Confess (Matt 10:32-33)  Baptized (Mark 16:16, I Pet 3:21)
