3 History of Billing with Champ Products Around 1990 – Started billing in Champ legacy software – Paper invoices – HCFA-1500 – UB-82 1998 – Episodic billing in combination with OASIS 2007 – NPI mandated for use instead of legacy IDs 2008 – Push to start submitting electronic claims

4 History of Billing with Champ Products 2009 – Introduced billing feature in Nightingale Notes 2012 – 5010 version of electronic claims mandated 2013 – Immunization billing feature added End of 2014 – Started making changes to billing, for better workflow

5 Today in Nightingale Notes Users in many states billing – MN, WI, ND, IA, IN, OH, KS, AZ, CA, WA Many public health/home health programs/services being billed, including but not limited to: – Family planning – Immunizations – Children’s programs, such as: Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps Health Tracks – Jail health – Dental – VA services – PCW/PCA – Elderly programs

6 Today in Nightingale Notes Types of claims offered in NN: – Monthly statements – Statements and receipts at time of service – CMS-1500 – Electronic - Professional and Institutional Continued improvements/mandates to billing: – Added default rates in Services and Supplies – Continued changes for immunization billing – Added billing fields to activities and supplies, to make it easier to change codes “on the fly” – ICD-10 added in October
