Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) are already a part of everyday life whether it’s your hobbies, keeping fit or entertainment. More and more jobs now require STEM skills.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was something that could…? Everything we use was invented by someone. From the pen we write with to the clock on the wall, from our lunchbox to our pencil case, somebody first had to have the idea. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths are the basis of innovation.

How to enter The competition is open to 11-16 year olds There are two age categories: 11-13 and 14-16 Include your name, age, school, email address and phone number Email your entry to formula100@yourlife.org.uk The closing date is April 10 th 2016

Entries will be judged on the following criteria: Originality/Innovation Creativity Practicality/Usefulness Presentation Style/Communication How to enter

Winning entries in each category receive: £1000 for the school iPad for the student plus more exciting prizes to be announced

How to enter 6 shortlisted entrants will be invited to take part in creating an Invent the Future video showcasing their invention for the Your Life YouTube Channel. Viewers will be asked to vote for their favourite invention. Videos with the most ‘likes’ will earn points that count towards their final score. You can promote your video by sharing with your family/friends and school.

Changing the World Sometimes the greatest inventions are those that transform our lives in unexpected ways. How did each of these inventions change the world? What was the world like before this invention? If this invention didn’t exist then how would our lives be more difficult? What is the STEM behind this invention? What background science is necessary?
