3 Admissions Applications due: December 1 st of every year Top 10% Automatic Admissions ONLY for public Texas High Schools Does not apply to private schools or high schools outside of Texas Automatic Academic Admit: MUST Rank in the top 25% Meet SAT or ACT minimums SAT: 1300 (600 on Math and Reading) ACT: 30 Holistic Review Blinn Team/Gateway

4 Students are enrolled at both A&M and Blinn Two year program where students must: Complete 45 hours 30 from Blinn 15 from A&M Overall GPA of 3.0 Still get the same benefits as if they were A&M Students Gateway Students gain full admissions to A&M by successfully completing summer classes

5 Scholarships/Financial Aid Location: 2 nd floor of the Pavilion Veterans services (Hazelwood) Student Employment Services (Work Study) Financial Advisors Scholarships application deadline for incoming freshman has already passed (Dec 1 st ) FAFSA Financial aid is awarded Mid March

6 Housing Housing application closes when it gets full Room preference or Roommate preference Cannot apply until they have been admitted Can change preferences up until: May 1 st Dorm Styles Modular: Biggest, 2 people, private bathroom Suite: rooms of two people who share a bathroom with another room of two people Communal: Occupants Vary, Communal bath White Creek Apartments Off campus apartments Be prepared to answer questions about roommate experiences & spin them in to a positive

7 Dining Services Required for all students who live on campus Explain Dining Dollars Money credit to your student account every semester that you can use at any dining location or Aggie Express on campus. Meal Plans.. Recommend one of the smaller ones, the bigger ones are usually wasted Remind them they will be allowed to have a mini fridge and microwave in their rooms

8 Corps of Cadets Four year military leadership program Largest student organization with 2,400 students 46 Outfits Benefits of Joining: Brotherhood Scholarships Leadership Elite Units Career goals Experience spend the night with the corps Last day to sign up is at your new student conference Choose the outfit that fits their desires

9 Traditions and the Aggie Family Talk about the Alumni Network FISH CAMP Be prepared to explain the traditions that set Texas A&M apart… Midnight Yell 12 th Man Aggie Ring (avoid ring dunk) Muster Silver Taps Etc.

10 Student Organizations Over 1,000 student organizations to get involved in Greek life Avoid talking about specific sororities/fraternities Emphasize all of the things Greek life do, they are not just partiers Avoid stereotypes Emphasize importance of getting involved early and applying for anything that sounds interesting Suggest one or two first semester to balance school One professional, one for fun
