Scientists have shown that worrying about what might happen can cause your body to overwork itself; you can develop high anxiety, unrealistic fear, hypersensitivity to criticism. Worrying will interfere with eating, sleeping, relationships, task completion, and even lead to various addictions.

We worry when we feel threatened, either…  …afraid of losing what we have  …afraid of not getting what we need or want Three kinds of rights/needs/wants:  What I want to have  What I want to do  What I want to be

Jesus lays out how exactly we seek God’s kingdom: open our hearts up to what God wants. It’s much easier when our heart isn’t about stuff or our wants and desires and is about people, it’s much easier not to worry and instead find joy when we’re focused on God’s kingdom and what God wants for our lives.

1.NAME what is being threatened. 2.HAND it to God (open hands). 3.SEEK first the kingdom of God. 4.THANK God that he will meet your needs. 5.When you notice that you have picked it up again, HAND IT BACK TO GOD.

What is one thing you are worried or anxious about?

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22–23), and it must be evident at some level in the life of every believer. Joy need not be tied to our circumstances, for we have the Holy Spirit, and we can decide to rejoice always (Phil. 4:4).

Being made in God’s image, we are complex creatures who can be both sad and joyful at the same time.

The Bible commands us to rejoice. In fact, rejoicing is so important to the Christian life that the apostle Paul makes joy the central theme of his epistle to the Philippians.

Top Reasons to Rejoice Today. 1. 2. 3.
