1 13.1 Introduction to Quadratic Equations
Goal: -write a quadratic in standard form -solve quadratic equations

2 Important Info Quadratic Equation: it’s highest degree is x²
Standard Form: ax² +bx + c =0 If its in the form ax²+bx=0, just factor out a common factor If its in the form ax² +bx +c =0 then use bottoms up If it does not =0 then move everything to one side of the equation and set it = 0

3 Solving Quadratic Equations
Change equation to “Standard Form” Ax2 + Bx + C = 0 Factor the equation (if possible) (x + 5)(3x – 7) = 0 Let each factor = zero, and solve for “x”.

4 Solve: x2 – 4x = x - 6

5 Solve: x2 = 7x - 10

6 Solve: 3x2 – 2x = 0

7 Solve: 2x2 + 3x = 35

8 Solve: x2 + 7x – 18 = 0

9 Solve: 7x2 + 4x – 3 = 0

10 Solve: m2 + 4m - 21= 0

11 Assignment: Page 578 (2-60) every other even
