Brain Central Nervous System: Alcohol is a Depressant, which makes your reactions slower. Coordination is impaired, and speech is affected.

Lungs A small amount of alcohol can be exhaled through respiration. Binge drinking slows respiration.

Stomach Irritation, can cause ulcers Food can lessen the effects of alcohol on the stomach

Liver 90% of alcohol is metabolized by the liver (1/2 oz. per hour) Cirrhosis- scarring of the liver

Small Intestine Site where alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream

Cardiovascular System Alcohol causes blood vessels to dilate, which lowers body temperature Slows heart rate.

Kidneys More urination leading to dehydration of body cells.
