2 OVERVIEW OF R.R.V.P.N.L. First the electric power is supplied by the Rajasthan State Electricity Board. IN July 2000 it broken into five company 1. Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam limited. 2. Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasarn Nigam limited. 3. Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam limited. 4. Ajamer Vidyut Vitaran Nigam limited. 5. Jodhpur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam limited. Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited(RRVPNL) has been established under companies Act 1956 by Govt. of Rajasthan. .

4 INTRODUCTION THE ELECTRIC POWER IS GENERATED AT POWER STATION .IT IS DELIVERED TO THE CONSUMER THROUGH A LARGE NETWORK OF TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION.HERE IT IS NECESSARY TO CHANGE SOME CHARACTERICTES OF ELECTRIC SUPPLY .THIS IS ACHIVED BY THE SUITABLE APPARTUS CALLED SUB STATION . “THE ASSEMBLY OF APPARATUS USED TO CHANGE SOME CHARACTERISTIC OF ELECTRIC SUPPLY ARE KNOWN AS GRID SUB STATION”.

6 POWER TRANSFORMER Power Transformer is the heart of the GSS. It transfer the electrical power from one circuit to the another circuit. In grid sub –station the transformer are used to step dawn the voltage at constant frequency. In 400 KV GSS the 400 kv are converted into 220 kv for further transmission. The Transformer oil are reserve in congervating tank . The metallic below are uses with pumps for transferring the oil. The bushes are used to providing the insulation between transformer body & line.

8 Types of Cooling Used In Power Transformer
1. Oil Natural Air Natural 2. Oil Natural Air Force 3. Oil Force Air Force At faulty condition the explosion vent are used to release the oil pleasure .

9 INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMER
The main function of the instrument transformer is to transfer voltage or current in the power lines to values which are convient for the operation of measuring instrument. Types Of Instrument Transformer:- 1.Current Transformer 2. Potential Transformer

10 1.CURRENT TRANSFORMER The current transformer are used to step dawn the current to known ratio. The Main Objective Of C.T. is :- .Reduce the scale of the metering scale. . Used for protective system.

12 2.POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER
It also known as voltage transformer. It is used to step dawn the voltage to known ratio. It have large number of primary turns and few number of secondary turns.

14 LIGHTING ARRESTER In the grid sub - station the lighting arrester is the first equipment in entering the switch yard. The lighting arrester is the protective device which conduct the surge voltage on the power system to ground.

16 ISOLATOR Isolator is a switch used to isolate the circuit from the other It is operated only no load condition. In one dya six isolator are connected.

18 CIRCUIT BREAKER A Circuit breaker is a switch to make or break circuit under normal & faulty condition. It is so designed to break a circuit automatically under faulty condition & make a circuit automatically or manually under normal condition. Circuit breaker is operated on both on & off load condition. In one dia three circuit breaker are connected.

20 BUS BAR Bus Bar are copper roads operated at constant voltage.
The incoming and outgoing lines are connected through the bus bar. BUS BAR ARRANGEMENT:- 1. Single bus bar arrangement. 2. Double bus bar arrangement.

21 TERMS USED IN BUS BAR 1 Jumper:- The running of power line from protective equipment to bus bar are known as jumper. 2 Dropper:- The running of power line from bus bar to protective equipment are known as dropper. 3 A Dya:- The distance between two bus bar are known as one dia. Three circuit breaker are connected in one dya. 4 A Bay: - The distance between bus bar to outing of power line from switch yard are known as one bay.

23 WAVE TRAP Wave Trap is a protective equipment used to separate the communication signal with the electrical signal. It also prevent the high frequency signal entering in the other zone.

25 CONCLUSION The grid sub- station is play an important role in the power system as it steps down the transmitted voltage for further transmission & distribution . Summer training in 400 kv grid sub-station provide me a knowledge about transmission, distribution, and maintenance of electrical power . At last I would like to say that practical training taken 400 KV GSS has broadened my knowledge.
