YY ou’ve probably seen a picture of him and he probably has a bald head, a huge bushy beard, a bit of a funny nose and he probably looks a bit miserable; but he wasn’t always like that! Charles had an amazing life; he travelled the world, saw volcanoes blow up and and went hunting for ostriches. When he came home, he changed the way we think about living things! Who was Charles Darwin?

Charles Darwin is most famous for his work on natural selection, the idea that all species of life have evolved over time from common ancestors. This process involves favourable traits becoming more common in successive generations of living things while at the same time unfavourable traits become less common.
