Controlled Enrollment: What rising 9 th graders need to know

“Why do we have controlled enrollment?” Because every student learns differently and have different goals and interests, Onslow County’s high schools offer a wide variety of specialized programs. Because not all of the high schools offer all of the programs, a student may request an application for enrollment in another school. The Catch!!!! The student will be asked to complete a school-level application and interview. Students will also have to meet requirements unique to each program. “Who decides if I get accepted?” Each school will have a committee that decides who will be enrolled. Each school will have a committee that decides who will be enrolled. Consider this!!!! Transportation WILL NOT be provided. (NOTE: Failure to provide timely transportation may result in student transfer to their home school.) Transportation WILL NOT be provided. Students who are accepted into a specialized program at another school MUST complete the entire school year before applying to return to their home school.
