Wonder of the Day

Explore Wonders

What Are You Wondering?

This website is great for getting the students thinking. I love that you can see a new wonder every day. This could be something silly or something new they have never seen before. The students can post their own wonders and then comment on other students who have posted. They can vote on which wonder amazed them the most. The pictures on this website will make the students want to explore the other wonders on the website. The main sections of this website are wonders of the day, explore the wonders, what are you wondering, and vote for wonders. Each day there are new pictures and facts from around the world.

Kidsblog.org

Kidsblog is a website where teachers can create an account and place their class open for every student. Kids blog creates a unique log in page for every class that is on the website. This is a place for students to be open in their class and talk about their assignments. This website could also be used for discussion boards where each student could build off one another. I would use this website, so the students could collaborate on a project or assignment while I am always their to jump in with comments as they go.

The reading aspect of teaching can be correlated across every subject in the curriculum. Even a science teacher could find a lesson plan from this website to incorporate into their class. The K-5 Student Centered Activities and K-3 Instructional Routines search tool provides teacher's access to the 522 individual activities and the instructional routines from Empowering Teachers. Use this search tool to find and print specific instructional routines or student center activities and their accompanying activity masters by grade level, reading component (Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension).
