He also defeated the Aztec empire and claimed Mexico for Spain. Later joined the expedition to Cuba. In 1518 he explored Mexico.While he was there he strategically aligned the native people against other to overthrow them. In 1522 King Charles was appointed King of Spain. Hernan Cortez died in his country(Spain) in 1547.
