Background Information -HIV/AIDS was first diagnosed in 1981. -According to UNAIDS, as at December, 2007 -People living with HIV – 33 million -New HIV infections in 2007 – 2.7 million -Deaths due to AIDS in 2007 – 2.0 million -About 5,700 die from AIDS around the world every day -UNAIDS has reported that globally less than one person in five, at risk of HIV, has access to basic HIV Prevention Services.
