6. A Joyful Security  Those who escaped... not only saw the greatness of the danger but also experienced the goodness of deliverance.

8. The Fear of the Lord is... the awe and reverence left over when the frightening vulnerability before the greatness of God is mixed with the joy of security upon experiencing the goodness of God.

9. This Fear of God... is present in every believer from the moment of salvation, though often in a severely underdeveloped fashion.

10. The Fear of the Lord  Growth in the fear of the Lord is directly proportion-ate to our knowledge of His perfections.

11. The Fear of the Lord is... the awareness of the powers of the ever- present God.

12. The Essence of Man  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

13. The Essence of Man  Godliness is the core of manliness.  Godliness is a synonym for the fear of the Lord.  Spiritual maturity is characterized by the fear of the Lord.

14. Created for His Glory  We were created so that God would have something to show about Himself.  Our well-tuned, highly performing “engines” of godliness are the means whereby He gets the glory due to Him.
