Castlereagh PCSP. Outline of Police performance.

The Trend. The general trend over the past seven years is that crime has been falling and in some areas significantly ( despite more robust counting rules). Last three years Total crime gone from– 2210 -9/10 end to 2179 -10/11 to 1895 -11/12 FYTD 803 - 12/13 so far

End of Year Statiscal Performance FY ending 11/12. Key Areas. Burglary 90 this year so far PFYD 120 Robbery 2 crimes this year PFYD 7 Theft 171crimes PFYD 178 Fraud and forgery 34 PFYD 54 Violent crime now 256 (KHP, YOC, UHD) PFYD 211. (438, 486, 460, rest of district) ASB now707 PFYD 771

The Trend General crime problems still tend to be from criminals coming into the area. Not residents who live here. ASB has reduced by significant levels as has the number of calls in respect of same. Castlereagh enjoys lower levels of crime compared to other Belfast Districts.

The Trend. Reports of assault increasing from institutions in the area. Margins for overall crime reduction becoming more difficult as ceiling constantly lowers.

Current position and future. Crime prevention and information –key Working with neighbouring areas Partnership working –key, ie tackling underlying causes of problems. Depends on what aspirations are currently held for the Area from partners as well. Education and provision of role models for youth is key.- making sure gaps are bridged.

Current position Maintaining and doing what we currently do. Key is to engage public and gain support through reporting and provision of key community information. Public will determine what is accpetable for their neighborhood and what isn’t
