THE RIVER DANUBE THE RIVER TISZA LAKE BALATON Major Bodies of Water http://eeagrants.org/Results/Project-stories/Protecting-the-environment-around-Lake- Balaton#story The Danube is the second longest river in Central Europe and is polluted because of cities and factories along it, and pollution spilling in from it’s larger tributaries. The Tisza is the longest tributary of the Danube, and is polluted by industrial waste, which it eventually carries into the Danube. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe, and is highly polluted because of major tourism.

This is a man cleaning up sludge in Devecser after the dam broke and the town flooded. This picture shows the dam of the reservoir near Kolontar that was full of red sludge and broke, flooding the town and destroying the houses.

This shows how much of each renewable energy type has the potential to be used.
