Why is educating about nutrition important? Students need knowledge about what, when and how much to eat Obesity in childhood is becoming an epidemic Healthy nutrition is one of the main factors affecting school performance

Why is junk food not so great? easily available and popular foods in schools today are hindering learning many popular foods in cafeterias are leaving kids tired, unfocused, jittery, and sick impact students’ grades and performance influences their behavior and moods.

Why is junk food not so great? (continued) According to the Society for Neuroscience, recent studies show that diets with a lot of saturated fats, impair learning and memory. Foods with saturated fats are usually the most affordable and available in schools. Many foods that are available in the cafeteria are filling kids with food that lowers their brain power. Examples: french fries, pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets, etc.
