Masthead:Banner: The meant head has been written in bold letters to stand out from the rest of the magazine cover. The the image has been placed in front of the heading, yet the a regular reader would know what the header says. The word Kerrang has been broken with white lines to make it look broken, giving the image of a rock music magazine. The colour of the masthead has been kept simple with the colour black showing a contrast between the other colours used for the cover of the magazine. The banner has been set on the very top of the magazine cover, creating a bold statement to the reader. When the magazine is stacked up on the shelf the masthead and the banner will be the first things the buyer will see before looking closer at the contents of the magazine. This draws the reader in. The banner has been written in white writing and is set upon a red background creating a bold statement. Background: Images: Colour: The images shown on front of the magazine cover have been cleverly picked, so the buyer finds the magazines interesting, drawing them in. The publisher has only used a small amount of photos for the front cover. This creates a more simple looking cover making it look more appealing and easier to read. The images have been set on a white background to make them stand out from the image behind it. The image set in the background is of rock group Biffy Clyro. The lead singer has been set at the front of the cover looking straight at the camera, in front of the masthead. The over two member of the band have been set behind the masthead making the leader stand out. The colours in the photograph have been stripped back to black and white making a large contest with the red. The colours used for the magazine cover have been kept to a minimum. The only colours used for the cover are black, white and red. This creates a bold, simple contrast and goes the genre of the band, drawing in the right target audience. Kerrang

Banner: The banner used for the magazine has been placed above the masthead. The banner has been split into two. Four of the words have been highlighted in bold. These are the words the publisher wants the readers to see when they first pick up the magazine off the shelf. The rest of the sentence has been written in a smaller font as they are less important. Masthead: The masthead used for this magazine cover has been very simply placed onto the left hand side of the cover. Covering part of the background image. The masthead has been written in a bold large font. This makes a bold statement for a simple masthead. The colour of the Masthead has been written in a bright red. This creates a contrast when comparing it to the rest of the colours used for the font and the images. The font of the masthead is a very simple font making it easy to read and pleasing to the eye. Text: All of the text used on the magazine has been written in the same font, making it easy to read and keeping the cover simple. However, the text has been written in different colours that stand out from the background. The fonts have also been written in different sized fonts relating to the interest of the story, they are trying to sell across to the reader. Colours: The colours used for this magazine cover have been kept limited and simple. The main colours used for the cover are reds, yellows, blacks and white. This makes a contrast against the background. Background: The background has captured the all of the members of the group with them all wearing shades. This can be very misleading for the reader as you can not see whether they are actually looking at the camera. One of the members of the group is looking away from the camera creating a profile of the side of his face. NME

Banner: The banner for this magazine has been made very simple. The text is a very simple message telling the buyer what the magazine will contain and the kind of genre it is. This will be the first thing the buyer will see when the magazine is displayed on the shelf. The white text on the black background makes a bold statement. Masthead: The masthead or this magazine is very creative and clever. I like the way the masthead has been set to the left hand side of the cover. The main member of muse is holding the guitar giving the effect that it looks like he has just smashed the Q. The Q has been giving the effect to looked cracked with the lines running through the Q. The white Q also stands out on the red squared background. These colours also link in with the rest of the colours used for the rest of the music magazine. Colours: There are a very limited use of colours used for the magazine cover. The only colours that have been used are black, white and red, The background image had also cleverly used the red in his coat to link in with the rest of the cover. Background: The background for this music magazine is very simple. The grey is all one colour and the shadow is the only other colour used for the background. This makes the musician stand out fro the rest of the magazine cover making him the main subject of the mag. Text: The font used for the magazine cover is varied from text to text. The font varies in style and also in size. The Things in blocked letters/ in bold are the pieces of text that are relevant to the background image of the magazine cover. Most of the text has been coloured in white to stand out from the background. The many texts have also been made relevant to the images that have been put on the front cover and the background. Q
