EVA Troubleshooting [1] Model 5214 FC-AL Drive Enclosure Lab Aid Note to the Presenter and Attendees: The following supplemental slide are provided as Model 5214 FC-AL Drive Enclosure Lab Aid/Quick Reference only, and are not intended to be discussed during the presentation. If necessary, a few selected slides may be reviewed – time permitting – based on the Attendees’ needs. Always refer to the documentation supplied with the equipment for more complete or updated information.

EVA Troubleshooting [2] Model 5214 FC-AL Drive Enclosure Lab Aid EMU –The EMU uses a combination of LEDs, icons, the two- character alphanumeric display, and an audible alarm, which is useful for troubleshooting the the drive enclosure and its elements Status IndicatorFunction Audible AlarmAny EMU detected conditions causes this indicator to sound. EMU Icons and associated LEDs Displays the drive enclosure and EMU status. Note: The three icons in the lower-right corner of the disk enclosure also display this information. Alphanumeric DisplayThe two-character, 7-segment display can display decimal, alphabetical, or hexadecimal characters.

Flashing indicates an operational EMU. ON when both the +5 V DC and +12 V DC are correct. Normally OFF. ON when there is a drive enclosure error condition. LED Icon LED Icon LED

EVA Troubleshooting [4] Model 5214 FC-AL Drive Enclosure Lab Aid EMU LED Display Status and Recommended Actions LED LEGEND: = Off = On = Flashing The EMU locate function is active. This display has precedence over all others. Fault conditions cannot be displayed when the locate function is active. The EMU IS operational. The drive enclosure power (+5 V DC and +12 V DC are correct). There are NO drive enclosure faults. The EMU IS operational. There is a drive enclosure fault. Check the alphanumeric display error code for detailed information about the problem. The EMU IS operational. This display may be present when power is initially applied to the drive enclosure. Should this display fail to clear within a few seconds, could indicate a disk drive +12 V DC power supply problem. Note: When the +5 V DC is not correct, all the LEDs are off. There is an EMU Fault. There is NO drive enclosure fault. There is a drive enclosure fault. Either +5 V DC is not correct, or both +5 V DC and +12 V DC are not correct. Other error conditions may exist.
