Bell Work In the first sentence, her tone is informal and flippant; whereas in the second, it’s more formal. This essay while it’s highly academic, the inclusion of sentences with a more personal, informal, and even playful tone adds interest and prevents the essay from seeming stuffy.

Bell Work King’s central claim is that “the Negro is still is not free” (line 10) He supports the claim that African American do not enjoy complete freedom by pointing out that segregation, discrimination, and poverty still exist for the majority of African Americans (lines 12-13)
