Initial Screen Type in your subject or interest. Snowboard* When you are searching a general subject, use an asterisk*. This tells the computer to include every form of the word. Example, Snowboarding, Snowboarders…

Notice how many items were found. 1+/1+ means we have 1 copy in the Library and that copy is in. 0/1+ means-- The library has 1copy but it is checked out.

Select the book of your choice and double click. Detailed information appears. Notice **The number of pages included in the book. Summary on what the book is about.

In an Expanded Search, you may also look under Title. Lord of the Rings

Look! Big surprise, they are all checked out.

Another way to search the catalog is with the author’s name. Type the author’s last name, comma, first name. Rowling, J. K.

LOVE ROMANCE For a more detailed search, use Boolean operators

To expand the search, select the term OR This option will list all the books in our library that deal with love OR romance. ROMANCE LOVE

The number of items has greatly increased. The 222 books found are about love or romance.

A more refined search can be accomplished by using the term AND NOT. For example… ROMANCE LOVE SCHOOL

Click on the pop-up button and choose a method to search for material.

Historical Drag down from default to Fiction or other choices.

If you click on the “Call Number” category box, the materials will be sorted by type and placed in numerical and alphabetical order for ease of locating. The Go Back Button helps with navigation.
