IETF 55th Meeting, Atlanta, GA 3IFax WG, 20 Nov 2002 Internet Standards - RFC 2026 l Draft Standard “Elevation to Draft Standard is a major advance in status, indicating a strong belief that the specification is mature and will be useful.” l Internet Standard “In general, an Internet Standard is a specification that is stable and well-understood, is technically competent, has multiple, independent, and interoperable implementations with substantial operational experience, enjoys significant public support, and is recognizably useful in some or all parts of the Internet.”

IETF 55th Meeting, Atlanta, GA 5IFax WG, 20 Nov 2002 Interoperability Testing l “The interoperability results are based on testing between at least 2 independent implementations. Fields and features listed as implemented by the Reader were verified with TIFF-FX files created by an independent writer. Fields and features implemented in the Writer were verified by an independent reader, using visual checks (view and print) and, in the case of lossless compression, by pixel comparisons of the original and decompressed source images.”
