DO NOW: 1. Go to Page 5 and mark a 5 in the corner in your Computer Manual and label “Do Now” at the top of the page. 2. Copy this question: Why do you think it is important to name all your files on the computer? 3. Write 4-5 sentences explaining your answer. Be prepared to discuss.

Go to Page 5 and under your DO NOW answer, write: Naming Convention Rules: 1. NEVER use slashes, spaces, dashes, periods, or capital letters. This will corrupt your file. (It will ruin your work) 2. NEVER leave a work “untitled”. You WILL lose it.

3. Go to File>Save as> to name your file 4. To name your file always begin with your initials plus the project name For example: my file name would be jwproject.ai

5. Key command/shortcut CTRL s =save 6. Save! Save! Save! After every couple changes you make. 7. Every day save a new version of you file. FILE>Save as>then add a new number to the end of the file name. For example: my file name would be jwproject2.ai, jwproject3.ai,. Etc.

Time to Practice Using your manual notes do the following: Open the program Illustrator and practice naming and saving a file correctly. For the purposes of this practice call your file “practice” My file would be called jwpractice Practice backing your file up to Google Drive
