The Himalayas The Himalayas are a natural barrier which protect India from the coldness of Asia Mount Everest, found in the Himalayas, is the world’s highest mountain Mount Everest is 29,029 feet high The word Himalaya means ‘mountain of snow’ The Himalayas are part of 5 countries: Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, China and India

PujaPuja Puja is a prayer ritual performed by Hindus to worship deities, or to spiritually celebrate an event Most Indian families have a shrine in their home They treat their Gods as their guest and offer them food, usually fruit They put a special mark on the pictures of Gods they pray to and themselves as a mark of respect They pray to their Gods to ask them to take away the bad things and help make them good They move a lamp around their Gods and ask for their blessing Then they share the food and water

Life at school in India School starts at 8.00 a.m. and finishes at 1.50 p.m. They start their school day with an Assembly outside where they pray then the main news stories of the day are read out They learn English and ICT They play similar games to us in the playground
