Argument: Gordon Parks uses the forbidden playground as the subject, for both the viewers and individuals in the foreground of the photograph, as a symbol of the loss of innocence for children of color who grew up during this era.

Questions for discussion: Why did Parks name this photograph “Outside Looking In”? How do we know that this is a playground wherein these children cannot play?
