3. Aqua Appia Location: Italy, Rome (underground)
Was the first roman aqueduct.
Constructed in 312 BC by Appius Claudius Caecus
Flowed for 16.4 km into the city of Rome through the Porta Maggiore, and emptied into the Formu Boarum, near Porta Trigemina.
During the Gothic War (537 AD) the. aqueduct was destroyed in order to cut the water supply
No traces of it remain

the longest of the 11 aqueducts that supplied the city of ancient Rome
constructed from BC by the praetor Quintus Marcius Rex
followed the via Tiburtina into Rome, and entered the city in its eastern boundary at the Porta Tiburtina of the Aurelian Wall.
It still functions today as one of the major water sources to the modern city of Rome.
