3 EU Copyright Directive “The harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society” Implemented “to meet the challenges of the Internet, e-commerce and digital technology.” 22 June 2001 18 month implementation period (22 Dec 2002) 22 optional exceptions plus one mandatory (for incidental or transient storage of e-files) Note that existing exceptions cannot continue if they are outside the 22 listed.
