Practice: Every Tense Change these sentences from active to passive:
Someone has eaten all the pizza. They are building a temple. A person was singing a song. My friends had cleaned the room. You shouldn’t take out too many books from the library at once.

When To Use 1. We don’t know who did the action.
Five people have been killed! 2. We want to pay attention to the action, not the “doer.” (We don’t care who did it.) The killer was arrested yesterday!

When To Use 3. If we want to pay extra attention to the “doer”, we use “by…” The killer was discovered by a small child!

When NOT to Use YOU CANNOT USE PASSIVE VOICE IF YOUR SENTENCE DOES NOT HAVE AN OBJECT. Math class is difficult. Jane is a really crazy girl. If the “doer” is obvious (ชัดเจน) but not really important. I was driving my car when I saw a monkey dancing! My mom bought me some new underpants.
