“Beware” “Be guarded, take care, beware!” “Warning” All verses are from the NKJV unless noted.

Previously Beware – Teaches us to warn others – Teaches us to hate evil We looked at some of the evil abroad that can snare the soul This lesson warns against evil within!

Evil Within! “Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the LORD against you, and it become sin among you” (Deut. 15:9)

Evil Within! “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God” (Heb. 3:12)

Every Person Is Capable Of Much Evil! The Source of Evil (Mk. 7:20, 21) – 20 And He said, "What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. – 21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts…” Kinds of Evil (Mk. 7:21-23) – 21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders” – 22 "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. – 23 "All these evil things come from within and defile a man."

Exodus 23:20-22 What was the Angel’s work? 1.To keep you in the way 2.To bring you into the prepared place Why were they to beware of Him? 1.Will not pardon transgression 2.Jehovah’s name is in Him What would keep them in good grace? – Obedience

Observe His work! – To keep us in the way (Jn. 14:4-6) – To bring us into a prepared place (Jn. 14:1-3) Beware of Him! – He will only pardon those who obey Him (Heb. 5:9; Lk. 20:17, 18; 2 Thess. 1:7-10) – Jehovah’s name is in Him (Jn. 8:58;14:1, 11; 5:23; Acts 2:21 w/ 1 Cor. 1:2; Acts 15:14 w/ 10:36-43, 48; Phil. 2:10; etc.)

“Beware” teaches us many things: – there are dangers that exist for disciples – the soul, though once saved, can become lost when it falls back into sin – there is a way to escape sin’s snare – the need to study and obey the word – the need to be an accountable part of the family of God is required and helpful
