Way Forward Need to establish working groups in each programme to package interventions and build implementation partnerships Must relate to national outcomes targets (provide local Need for interventions that have immediate impact and those that lay basis for more long range structural transformation Needs to be plan driven by metro but involving 3 spheres and SOEs (to have necessary scale) Needs strong political leadership, co-ordination, technical planning and monitoring, and project management capacity Must shape IDP and budget decisions of three spheres and SOEs as they relate to the metro

Outcomes Convergence of ideas and what needs to be done Keep in mind the need to focus on priority programmes Agreed interventions - Concretise the KIP –Social plan: refine and identify resources –Economic Plan: industrial strategy 5/6 focus areas and enablers –Infrastructure: Plan Continuous monitoring and evaluation Mandate review and clarity of roles in agents

Driving implementation Structure: A metro-wide reference group led by the Mayor, comprising, government, business, labour and civil society. Key Tasks: Meet periodically to provide strategic leadership, create awareness, energise and monitor implementation of the summit outcomes Next Steps: –Sign a draft agreement as a declaration of intent, (today) –The Mayor to develop draft terms of reference and invite the relevant stakeholders to the steering committee (within 4 weeks) Municipality and agents to internalise programmes and include in the IDP and business plans
