* Please pick up your calculator as you are walking in!!* 1. Simplify the inequality: -3(b+2) > 27 2. Simplify the inequality: 7m – 1 < 34 3. Simplify the inequality: 2c < 48 4. Is 6 a solution to 2 – 4x < 14

 What does it mean by translating math word problems? To translate math word problems means to write the problem into an algebraic expressions.  What arithmetic operations play a big role in word problems? Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division  What other terms or words does each of these words have that mean the same?

Write an algebraic expression for each example. Example 1: m increased by 5 Example 2: 7 times the product of X and T. Example 3: 11 less than 4 times a number. Example 4: Two more than 6 times a number Example 5: The quotient of a number and 12

Writing an algebraic equation then solve. Example 1: Six is added to four times a number is 50. Example 2: On an algebra test, the highest grade was 42 points higher than the lowest grade. The sum of the two grades was 138. Find the lowest grade. Example 3: 6 less than 3 times a number is the same as 5 more than twice the number. Find the number.

Example 4: The sum of $305 was divided among 3 friends so that the second received 4 less than twice as much as the first, and the third received $23 more than the second. How many did each friend receive? Example 5: The sum of three consecutive odd integers is 111. Find the integers.

1. Separate 84 into two parts so that one part is 9 less than twice as much as the other. Find each part. 2. Bill has twice as much money as Bob. Paul has $12 more than Bill. Together they have $92. How much money does Bob have? 3. The sum of three consecutive numbers is 36. Find the numbers.
